Discover India – The Rickshaw Route!!

IBC in collaboration with CEMS (Chennai Event management Company) presents the ‘Discover India Essay Competition’

Topic: “One Billion and Counting: India’s biggest challenge or greatest advantage”

Rules:
·         Team size: 1 or 2
·         Word Limit: 1200 words
·         Open to ALL UMICH students

Schedule:
·         Essay submission – September 28th
·         Essay winners intimated – October 5th

Prize: Rickshaw rampaging in India + $500 + invitation to conference dinner reception

The Rickshaw Challenge invites Michigan students into the heart of India, where you’ll traverse every possible microclimate; from metropolis, tropical jungle, arid desert, ancient valleys and the epic coastline known the world over as, “God’s own country.” You’ll do all this in a three-wheeled vehicle with a two-stroke engine: The Auto Rickshaw. 

This is an amazing race for the clinically insane. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Registration for case competition opened September 15th, 2009

India Business Challenge-MBA Case Competition

 Competition Details:   

  • Competition case theme will revolve around the conference theme.

  • Entry is limited to the first 20 teams completely registered.  Limit 2-4 MBA students per team.

  • To register your team, please send an email to akatiyar@umich.edu and sachpuri@umich.edu with the following details; Team Name, Name of the School, Team Members name & email, one team liaison.

  • Subject line of the email must read: Ross-IBC Case Competition Registration

  •  First round presentations will not be judged in presentation mode, so avoid animation. Please limit number of slides to 7(including title slide).

  •  Slides should contain the recommendations and supporting ideas. Very short narrations can be added in the notes section (Notes on each slide should be no more than 4-5 sentences). Teams may use outside sources of data, including, but not limited to the internet, library, magazines, etc. Teams cannot discuss the case with other teams or members of the MBA community.

  • Top 5 teams from first round will be selected for the final round.  

  • Final round presentations will be done before a panel of judges during India Business Conference on Friday October-9th, 2009 from 1:00pm EST (subject to conference event scheduling fluctuations) in Room E1530 at Stephen M. Ross School of Business. 

  • Final Presentation will include 20min of presentation and 10min of Q&A

  • Finalist can add 3 additional slides to the presentation (10 slides including title slide)

  • The top 2 winning teams will be announced after the Keynote Address by Mr. Arun Shourie.  

  • There is no fee to enter the case competition. However all hotel accommodations, transportation (including shuttles to and from the airport) are at the expense of the student teams.
